Vista administrators often become irritated by the "Elevation Prompt" displayed by Vista when launching elevated application that require User Account Control to be on, such as MetriQ.
As a solution it's often, but mistakenly believed, that simply turning off UAC will fix the problem. Not so, as once UAC is off, elevated applications cannot be run, and in addition leaves the operating system vulnerable to attacks and hacks.
For many, a more suitable solution is simply to turn off the actual prompt issued by Vista when an elevated application is first run. The advantage here is that the annoying prompt has gone, while their computer remains protected by UAC. Here's how it's done.
Elevate without Prompting:
Method1:
From MetriQ's main window, choose Help > Notes on Vista!
When the Notes window opens, select the tab "Changing Vista Prompt". Here you will see the various options available, allowing you to stop Vista prompting you whenever an elevated application is to be opened.
Select the option "Elevate without Prompting"
Press Save to keep your changes.
Method 2: (Vista Business, Vista Ultimate)
First, launch the Local Security Policy snap-in, by clicking on Vista's Start button, then type secpol.msc in the Start Search dialog box.
Configure the Security Options
1. Open the Local Security Policy.
2. Expand the Local Polices Folder (Figure 1).

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
2. The default value is : "ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin" = dword:00000002.
This means: Display the UAC dialog box
3. Change to: "ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin" = dword:00000000. (i.e. Elevate without Prompt).
