Lets say you have a Client A, with a Sub-Folder called General. And let's say you wish to view reports, and at the same transcribe the totaled figures into an executive report document you are preparing for your boss. First, open MS word from the folder General. Make this icon persistent. Next, open reports, and navigate to the data you wish to transcribe into word. Because word is persistent, the time is being recorded.
However, the moment you open reports, MetriQ does a clean sweep and updates the timing database of all icons currently open. So even though Word is persistent and timing, this data will not actually be shown in the report screen just opened. Of course if you were to close reports and re-open, the time since you last opened the reports will be accounted for, but again, the current collected time will not be seen.
Ordinarily, if this time is for billing purposes, then we suggest that when you do the end of month reports for billing, that the time used to prepare the reports is billed on the following month.
