MetriQ tracks all time

Cut and paste Icon time with MetriQ’s time tracking software

You may at some point begin to wonder about the merits of cutting and then pasting icon time when instead you can cut and paste the entire icon. Well, there’s a little more to it than that.

First, true enough - when automating your timesheets, if you cut and paste all the icon time from say notepad in Folder A to notepad in Folder B, then for sure you could also have just copy and pasted the whole icon.

However, with cut and paste icon time, your time tracking accuracy goes up a notch as you are now able to decide before hand what time frame you wish to first cut and then paste into your selected icon. This means you can quickly manipulate your timesheets at a graphical level, simplifying the administration of how you’ve managed your time.

Moving between folders within MetriQ - hands-free time tracking software

Even if you open a User folder and open a new application or file, and then move to another client Folder, MetriQ will automatically re-route all timing to this new folder. In addition, MetriQ will prompt you to see if you want to stay in that folder (in which case a new duplicate icon to the one you are using will be added), or Return home - that is, return back to the User folder you were previously using.

In essence, for automated timesheet management, MetriQ will ensure that the right Icon (file, url, application or timed-event) will use on what ever folder you move to, and without the need to either re-open the software

associated to the icon, or add/copy that icon to the new folder, giving you a hands-free time tracking solution at your finger tips.

Adding Icons - for quick easy time tracking

Time attendance keeps getting easier.

MetriQ’s graphical interface, in particular the icons used to represent links to the underlying software you are about to use and time, changes the landscape for typical timesheet interaction. Although MetriQ is in effect filling out your timesheets as it goes along, the time tracking engine is where the real power of the software lies, being able to decide which software is currently in use, or even detect that you’ve moved away from your desk. Even if this is the case, MetriQ will ask you on your return, how you’d like to divvy out the time you spent elsewhere, to ensure that every seconds gets billed.

It’s easy to add icons into MetriQ. Simply pick the icon you wish to add to the user folder, either from your windows desktop, task bar or explorer, and drag onto MetriQ.

Once you’ve added an icon, the chances are you’ll not need to add it again, as MetriQ has a number of way for that icon to be dispersed onto different folders, without you having to do anything.

Time Tracking Security

MetriQ ® has long recognized that for a meaningful and workable solution for business tracking time and collecting timesheets. We believe that data protection is a key ingredient in any software product that deals with time resources, and for this reason, MetriQ® has different levels of user to represent different tasks and administration available.

When locked down to the bare minimum, a typical user would only see the MetriQ icon on the desktop. Once launched, the user would then be able to see all software available to him/her through out the course of the day.

The systems administrator will determine if staff have the ability to create new icons, cut/paste icon data or individual icons from one user folder to another.

In this way, each business can control who the data is gathered, and who has access to the data ready for billing and invoicing.

Objectify Time Tracking Records

MetriQ® is the first and only time tracking solution to offer both pre-emptive and permissive timing modes. This alone makes MetriQ® one of the most accurate time capture systems on the market today, and part of MetriQ®’s strength comes from our patent pending Dynamic Overlay Icons, which allows the software to objectify each timing record. Now, instead of records to represent each timesheet task, MetriQ® uses Icons to display both the software or document that is to be opened and used, as well the time accumulated by each Icon. The time aspect can be further drilled down to reveal each time record that applies to the software or document icon.

Time capture, using this form of graphical user interface technology, changes considerably the landscape previously occupied by timesheets, into a more meaningful and insightful relationship beween the work done, time accrued and timeout.

What good are timesheets?

If you charge by the hour then there is a high chance you’ll be using timesheets to track how much time you and your staff have worked on a particular job for client XYZ.

There are alternatives to tracking time - for example, in Norway, it’s common for businesses to quote a fixed price for a job, rather than bill by time. This however is the exception, rather than the norm, and still begs the question - how is the cost for the fixed quote assessed? The answer to this is quite simple, and relies on the experience and knowledge of the practitioner, and the rule of thumb is to charge 3 times the expected time the job is expected to take to complete.

To the rest of us who need to manage time, timesheets have until recently been the best on offer. However, with time, new technology and fresh eyes, alternatives have started to appear that offer a real improvement on timesheet technology.

Often called time tracking or time logging, these new time capture systems are in effect software data loggers, specifically programmed to monitor and watch the computers in use, to track how much time are actually spending in front of the monitor.

Of course it’s more complex than this, as there must be sufficient mechanisms to capture other aspects of the working day, such as telephone, meetins etc. However time tracking software solutions are by definition more accurate than regular electronic timesheet software, and do have marked productivity gains over these legacy solutions.

Productivity Gains with MetriQ®’s time tracking software

If you keep timesheets as part of your business, then you’ll be delighted to know that huge gains in staff productivity can readily be achieved simply by using an automated time tracking software solution, like MetriQ®.

This easy to use software is a breeze to install, and is suitable for any size business, and can increase staff productivity from 5-35%, simply by automating the timesheet completion process. In real terms, removing the need for staff to complete a daily timesheet removes an inherent cost of the timesheet process - as well as fixing a number of sizable holes, such as inaccurate time logging, forgetfulness, laziness, cybertheft and other notorious problems with both elecronic and web-based timesheet systems.

Automated time-tracking is not new - however, recent improvements in time tracking technology has meant the development of robust tracking software such as MetriQ®.
