Metaphors with MetriQ Time Tracking Software

Throughout MetriQ, certain keyboard actions and icons are used to define and identify standard commands. The most common of these actions, shared by many screens, are shown below.

Accelerator Keys: All menus within MetriQ have accelerator keys. This gives users quick access to menu options using the keyboard instead of the mouse. Each accelerator key is displayed by the under-score of the key itself. e.g. At the top of most Window applications, ALT+F brings down the File submenu. To access and run the menu option from the sub window, use the CTRL key. So to leave MetriQ, File > Exit would be, Alt+F followed by CTRL+x.

If you cannot see the accelerator keys, then first press the ALT key to reveal them. This is a Windows setting that can be adjusted from the Desktop properties > Appearance > Effects.

Sorting Data: MetriQ will allow you to sort data in most data entry screens by clicking on the title of the data grid. The first click on the title will sort all data visible by the selected column in ascending order. The second click will change the sort to descending order. Clicking a different column heading will change the sort to the new column selected.

Data Entry Screens: Each data entry screen opens up with your data live and ready to edit. However, before you move on to a new record, MetriQ will prompt you to check if you wish to save your changes. Shortcut keys have also been provided to speed up data entry.
