MetriQ's Main Window with MetriQ Time Tracking Software

Windows and Panels Overview

When MetriQ opens after a staff member has logged on, the MetriQ main window is displayed. Icons needed for a particular task can then be added to the User Folder Panel (see Populating a User Folder), ready for opening and timing.

Status Bar: The status bar in MetriQ is used to show the various status conditions of a folder. e.g. the mouse icon (bottom left hand corner, second icon across), means that the folder selected has MetriQ Time Away 'On' (see also Time away). The blue/red ball means that this Folder uses Cool-Off (see also Folder Overview, Staff). Running the mouse over each icon will also give a textual hint of what the icon represents.

Timing Icons: Timing Icons are used to log the time for each software package and file opened within MetriQ. Each icon comes with its own pictorial status conditions, showing if the icon is active, idle, in persistence or in Cool-off. Each icon has its own property sheet allowing you to change its name, its start up directory and often a choice of images for the icon itself (see all Timing Icons, Icon Properties, Timed Events, Populating a User Folder)

User Folder Panel: As well as the large icon view shown in Figure 1, icons can also be shown as a list-view, with a choice of 3 different display styles - Details, List and Small Icons. To use the list-view, right click your mouse anywhere over the User Folder(but not over an icon) and make your selection from the drop down context menu (see also Folder Overview)

Personalized Bitmap: Add your own icon to be shown on the Folder by replacing the file "MyOwnLogo.bmp" located in the MetriQ installation directory.

Search: As well as a tree view to represent folder structures, MetriQ also provides a quick selection search for larger database. The first search box is always visible, regardless of which folder you select. However, as you select the first sub-folder within a folder structure, a second search box will open, listing all the sub-folders that are attached to the top folder you started with. Again, if you select a sub-folder which itself has a collection of sub-folders, a 3rd search box will open, allowing you to quickly move to the sub-folder of your choice. This search feature is ideally suited to quick navigation of larger databases, where the user can select a folder directly from the search box by typing in the first few characters of the selection criteria (see Folder Search)

The following table shows the different search box entries when different folders are selected within MetriQ.

When unchecked, ALL folders are displayed (Note: For users that have Limited access to MetriQ (see also Staff Administration Screen), and do NOT have Can See All selected as true, then Show My Active Folders is always checked and disabled).
