MetriQ has the ability to create an icon
each time you save a new document to disk, placing that icon into the
MetriQ environment, ready for timing.
To activate this feature, click on Settings and drop down to Options.
Click the Save As button
to open the Save As screen and check the box "Enable Save As"
near the bottom of the screen. MetriQ comes pre-configured for Word, Excel
and PowerPoint.
In addition, MetriQ needs to know which disk and/or folders you save your
files to on your local or networked computer. The default folder location
is the C drive. However you can also specify a specific folder. For example,
setting folder location to C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents
will ensure that a new icon is created whenever you save documents to
this folder and will never create a new icon for a document saved to any
other folder.
When the Save As feature is fully activated and you create a new document
from a software application open and running from within MetriQ, as soon
as you save this document to disk (using the Save As command in the open
application), MetriQ will open a new window to ask you if you wish to
create an icon for this newly saved file. If you wish to proceed, choose
a new location in MetriQ for the icon from the list of User Folders, and
when this screen closes, timing for that new icon will begin automatically.
If you have other applications that you would like to use the Save As
feature with, please follow these steps:
1. On the File Types tab, enter JUST the extension for the file types
you are using (e.g. xls) and a brief description Note:
there is no need to enter the name with a period. Do not use quotes.
2. Use the folder button
to select a folder for MetriQ to watch as described above. This would
normally be C:\. Check the Include Sub-Folders check box to request MetriQ
to also watch all sub-folders to the folder you selected. Click OK to
save these options and return to MetriQ's main window.

Some applications save more than one file. For example
Word will save 2 files with similar names - for example c:\~$MyNewDoc.doc
and c:\MyNewDoc.doc. The ignore field allows MetriQ to filter out
unwanted file types. |

Add a new Save As file type to MetriQ. Press the OK button to keep
these changes. |

Select a Save As file from the list and press the delete button.
Note:
Deletions cannot be undone. |

Use abort to cancel an add or edit. |

Save changes and quit. |
