Adding Favourite Icons into MetriQ

Use the Favourite Icon tool to add your favourite icons into any new folder that you choose.

To open the Favourite Icon tool, either right click your mouse in the panel used to store all of your Icons or choose Tools > Favourite Icons from main menu. The tool will open on the same folder you are on in the main folder, so you can start to add your icons straight away by checking the boxes of those icons you wish to add. Press the Add Icons button to add your selection onto the folder you have chosen. If you wish to add more icons to another folder, select a different folder, repeat the icon selection process. When icons has been successfully added, they are removed from the Favourite Icon list.

How do I make an Icon a 'Favourite' icon?
First, select any Icon from any folder that you wish to be the Favourite Icon tool when it opens. Next, right click your mouse over the Icon to bring up its context menu. Select Properties, to bring up the Icon Property sheet (see Icon Properties) and check the option Make Favourite. Close when done. This icon will now appear in the Favourite Icon tool provided this icon doesn't already exist on the folder you wish to add your favourite icons too.

What if I mark the same icon as Favourite on different Folders?
When the same folder is marked as Favourite on different Icons, MetriQ will only show one instance in the Favourite Icon tool. Which icon is chosen depends on the order it was created. However, there are 3 principle factors used to determine if an icon is to appear in the Favourite Icon tool. They are:

  1. The icon's Name
  2. The icons executable file path
  3. The icons command line arguments or document file path.

For example, adding Notepad.exe to folder's A and B, and marking both icons as Favourite, will only show one instance of Notepad on Folder C when using the Favourite Icon tool. However, adding a text file path to the command line of the Notepade.exe icon in Folder A, would result in 2 instances of notepad being shown in the Favourite tool.

Note: If you have a selection of Favourite Icons, you can quickly add them to any folder using the (ALL) Favourite Icons menu option.

Note: An icon declared as 'Non-Billable' in its property sheet, will be added to a new folder as non-billable.
