Typically, Timing Icons are a graphical
representation of an application or file that resides on your hard disk,
or are shared resource on the network, and can be added to any User Folder
in MetriQ (see also Folder
Overview), assuming you have the access privileges to populate the
User Folder (see also Staff
Administration Levels, Staff
Administrator, Populating
a User Folder). These icons are similar in appearance to standard
Windows icons and have similar characteristics. Each icon is unique to
the staff logged onto MetriQ and unique to that staff for a given computer
(i.e. 2 different staff logging onto MetriQ through the same machine have
their own set of icons per User Folder, and one staff logging onto 2 different
computers will have their own unique set of icons on the same User Folder
(see also User Folder
Task Bar and Actions).
Timing Icons State Images and
Text:
| Active: |
 |
When a timing icon is double clicked and the application/file
associated to this icon is launched, the icon will show a small clock
to the right of the icon, indicating that this icon has been launched
and is the active icon on the User Folder. |
| Idle: |
 |
When the timing icon becomes idle (when the application/file
associated to this icon is no longer in use, but is still open), the
icon's clock image will become dimmed. |
| Time: |
 |
| Icon Name: |
What ever you have chosen to call the timing
icon. Typically this value is extracted from the executable
or file disk location. It can be changed by opening the icon's
property sheet (see
Icon Property Sheet) |
| Icon Time: |
You can elect to display either the Total
time collected for that icon since it has been first used, OR
the time collected for that icon for the current day. You can
also elect to hide the time display altogether (see also Options). |
|
| Cool off: |
 |
A timing icon is within Cool-off
when its elapsed time has not passed a specific, user-specified value.
This allows users to delete icons from the User Folder, added and
started in error,. However, when the total time exceeds the cool-off
period, the icon passes cool-off and cannot be deleted. Use this as
a fail-safe to protect valuable timing data (see also Folder
Profiles to set the cool-off period and User
Folder Properties to choose a profile.)
It is possible
to manually update an icon's time (see Manual
Update), reset it to zero, and then delete the icon as
it comes into cool-off. |
