Roles Administration Tool with MetriQ Time Tracking SoftwareSee also: Why do we need roles? Roles define the billing or charge out rate for each person assigned to a folder in MetriQ (see also Folders). So, when a staff member selects a folder and activates an icon, their time for that icon is recorded. If we know how much time was spent doing a particular task, and we know how much per hour that person is charged out at, then we can calculate the total cost of that persons time. Each staff member in MetriQ MUST have a role attributed to them for each user folder. A staff's designated role may be different for different folders. Example: John is assigned the role of manager for User Folder A, and the role of liaison officer for User Folder B. Each role has its own attributes that are used to define charge-out rates for that staff. e.g. John charges out at $100 an hour for his management role in User Folder A, but may only charge $30 for his role as liaison officer in User Folder B. Overtime: As well as the standard charge out rate, MetriQ will also calculate the charge out costs for overtime, where overtime is determined by the number of hours a staff member works that exceed their weekly contract hours (see also Staff Administration tool). To open the Roles tool press the Roles button from the main MetriQ window or Tools > Roles from the main drop down menu. Buttons:
The two charge-out values, billing and overtime, are the rates charged to the client. Note: If your organization does not charge overtime, then use the regular billing rate for the overtime billing rate (On Insert, MetriQ will default the overtime rate to regular billing rate if no entry for the overtime rate is made). If you are a staff member with FULL privileges, (see also Staff Administration tool), then MetriQ will prompt you for your role the first time you open an icon on a new folder (see also Ask For A Role). If you are a staff member with LIMITED privileges to MetriQ's features, then an administrator (someone with full privileges) will need to manually assign you to the folders you will be using. There are two ways of doing this. 1. Logon to MetriQ as a user with full privileges. 2. Right click on the selected folder and choose Folder Properties. Move to the 'Assign Staff, Dates and Costs' tab. Check the name of the staff that you want to add to this folder, select a role and press the assign Role button. This staff member has now been assigned the chosen role to the selected folder. OR 2. Right click on the selected folder and choose Block Assignment (see also Block Assignment Tool). This tool assigns all the select staff with the selected role to the selected Folder AND to all of its sub-folders. Next: Asking for a Role
