Hot-Sync. in MetriQ

Hot-Synchronization is used by MetriQ to automate the Synchronization process at startup.

To use, open the Synchronization Window (MetriQ's main button bar or MetriQ's menu Tools > Sync.) and check the box labeled, Enable Hot-Sync on Startup. Note: You must of course make sure that you have fully configured MetriQ to work with a Portable Database which can also set in the same Synchronization window.

With Hot-Sync enabled, when you next open MetriQ, the following dialog window will open.

Our timesheet wizard

Figure 1: Hot-Sync Dialog (Enable Hot-Sync on Startup checked)

When this window opens, you will be offered a choice of either working with the Master Database (creating folders, adding staff, icons, timing etc), or to work with the Portable Database in Sync Mode (limiting you to adding Icons, timing, icon notes and disbursements). Which ever button you choose, MetriQ will do a FULL synchronization between your Portable and Master database before opening up as usual.

When you have finished working, MetriQ will again perform a FULL synchronization between the Master and Portable databases BUT ONLY if you have been working with the Master Database for that session.

In addition, you can also use the Hot-Sync Countdown check box (See the Synchronization window) to allow MetriQ to automatically carry out your last action (i.e. open with Master Database or Portable Database) after a set period of time (as determined by Count Down Seconds).

Figure 2 shows the Hot-Sync window with an 8 second countdown and with an indicator showing which choice MetriQ will chose for you. You can of course interrupt the countdown process at any time and press which option suits you best.
